To label myself as "certified organic" I would have to pay a special certificate to Canada for that label. However, I do not use pesticides or chemicals on my produce or plants. I use only natural compost for fertilizing (horse manure, coffee chaff, fish emulsion, eggshells, blood meal, etc. ). For pest control, I use companion gardening practices and diatomaceous earth.
Currently, we have Buff Orpingtons, Lavender Orpingtons, Rhose Island Reds, and a Bantham Silkie. They lay brown eggs and cream colored. They are partially free-range. They have a large run in the yard next to their coop. On the occasion when the neighbour's cat isn't out they get let out to roam within our fenced-in garden.
Their diet consists of non'-GMO crumble, mealworms, soldier fly larvae, bugs, leafy greens, sprouts, produce from our garden, flaxseeds, non-GMO scratch, and other seeds.
